5 Best Bottle Warmers
One “gadget” that will help make baby’s feeding time a bit more efficient for you is a bottle warmer. Bottle warmers are great for heating up baby’s bottle safely and quickly. Using your microwave is not a safe way to warm up a bottle because it doesn’t always heat up the milk evenly, leaving cool spots and hot spots. Warming baby’s bottle in a pot on the stove can take a long time, which- let’s face it- you don’t have (I get it- I’ve been there… more than once)! When baby is hungry, baby is HUNGRY NOW! What will help you solve this dilemma? Luckily, for us parents, the bottle warmer exists! Read the list below, pick your favorite(s) and get them on your registry.. or in your cart. You will be so glad you did. Seriously. I promise. For the record- I only make promises I can keep.
Here are my 5 favorite bottle warmers for 2021:
(Most Travel-Worthy -$)
It’s a great choice because: you can use it on the go OR at home! This bottle warmer touts itself as a portable travel bottle warmer. You can literally use it ANYWHERE! You heat the water up on the stove first, then you fill up the container, and put the lid on top. When you are ready to make a bottle, push down the button on the lid, and – carefully (water is HOT)- and pour into the big opaque “cup” to put the bottle in. Heat bottle for standard amount of time (time varies based on amount and other factors- although, you kind of just “know” after a while how long the bottle needs to sit), test bottle, and there you go! This fits a wide variety of bottles. It is also dishwasher/top rack safe.
Remember: The water inside of the thermos is HOT, so pour it over a surface… or at least, not your lap. Hey- you live, you learn!
Great for: On-the-go and late-night feeds.
(Most Cost Effective Warmer- $)
This is a great choice because it will get baby’s bottle warmed up quickly, without breaking the bank. The instructions actually tell you how much water to use in this warmer. It has a setting knob, which includes bottles, food, and sterilization. The LED light indicates water temperature. It will stay on until the water has reached its temperature max. Set your timer for baby’s bottle, and check on it by testing it. Once you get the hang of how much water to use (at some point- it will become automatic for you) and how long to leave that bottle in the water, you will be a well-oiled machine. It doesn’t take long. It can work with or without the clear lid on top. This warmer should be hand washed. Also, they give you TONGS you don’t have to risk burning your hand- they are so thoughtful!
Remember: Hot water is, well, hot… even when you’re half awake.. and have had 3 hours sleep total over the past 24 hours- nonconsecutively. Just use those tongs!
Great for: Home use for warming up your tiny one’s bottle.
(Best Warmer for Formula Bottles - $$)
This warmer is great because it maintains temperature all day- at the temperature setting you want! Ideally- you serve your baby body temperature formula; however, sometimes, your little prefers it either room temperature (cooler) –or- warmer than body temperature… 104 degrees Fahrenheit. This warmer lets you choose! You literally can fill this warmer with enough water to last you approximately (hey- everyone is different) an entire day. Just put your scoops of formula in the bottle and fill it up with this dispenser. You can literally use this warmer with EVERY type of bottle because it is not sitting in a container.
Remember: This warmer does cost a bit more than many warmers, but you literally make the bottle, and BOOM- you can serve it!
Great for: Having the ability to bypass the waiting game and just give the baby the bottle!
(Best Warmer for Pouches- $$$)
This warmer is great for bottles, baby food jars, and breastmilk pouches. It warms all of these from cold, frozen, and room temperatures, which is AWESOME. You just never know if you’re going to remember to thaw things…. or not. This warmer fits most bottle sizes and types. With this warmer, they give you a “cradle,” so you can lift the bottle/pouch/food out without getting your hands wet! It comes with an automatic timer to let you know when to check the bottle. Plus, it has settings based on what you are heating- bottles, jars, or pouches.
Remember: It SAYS it works with silicone bottles and containers, but there are some who would advise putting the milk or formula in a glass or plastic container for heating. This goes for all bottle warmers- not just this one.
Great for: Allowing you to get more use out of it, as baby gets old enough to eat. Plus, did I mention? Breastmilk bags!
(Best Universal Warmer- $$$)
This warmer is great because it can literally warm up EVERYTHING, when comes it to your little one. It warms up breastmilk, formula, food, bottles (INCLUDING the kind with liners). With this warmer, you don’t have to measure how much water goes into the water chamber. It touts using flowing, warm water versus steaming, which is why you can use such a wide variety of products (frozen or thawed) in this warmer. This warmer is great for even 8 ounces of liquid at a time.
Remember: When FREEZING breastmilk, lay the bag on its side in the freezer. This will help it freeze flat and make it much easier to thaw and heat up in a warmer.
Great for: Use at home with just about any type of product you are using to serve your baby breastmilk or formula.
Conclusion:
Bottle warmers were created to make our lives easier! This list was created to help you narrow down the search to find your ideal bottle warmer faster, and to give you confidence in your purchase. There are SO many choices out there, but not all of bottle warmers are created equally. The good news for you, my dear fellow parent, is that any of these 5 options is going to bring a sigh of relief to you and your baby, as they help you get to the actual feeding of the baby quicker and more safely. All that’s left to do now is to put your favorite in your cart (or on your registry) and allow a little machine to help you make both you are your baby’s feeding times a little easier!
